Nintendo’s response to slowing Wii sales was to announce the Wii U at E3 last year, hoping to leapfrog both Microsoft and Sony with the next generation of consoles. When they announced that their intentions of having the Wii U out by 2012, everyone shook their head amusedly and with a sarcastic smile said, “Oh Nintendo.” Sure enough, the Wii U’s release has been delayed.

Wargaming.net’s patch 7.1 for free-to-play MMO World of Tanks has recently gone live, bringing with it the long-anticipated addition of French Tanks. French vehicles will invade World of Tanks in two steps, with the initial offering featuring light, medium, and heavy tanks. Just as their historical prototypes, the in-game machines utilize unique features and modules, including automatic loading system and oscillating turrets that will enrich gameplay diversity and require different tactical approach from players.

I have always said you don’t need family for the holidays, you need family for after the holidays. This weekend kicks off the long slog to March, or April if you’re really in a bad climate. For those who aren’t hanging around their family, it’s a good time to sink into a game and punch away at the dreariness of leaden skies and a sun keeping banker’s hours.
